Mark Cavendish (Team Dimension Data) conquista Fase 1, la Emirates Motor Company di scena, della Dhabi Tour Abu e prende la maglia rossa

Madinat Zayed, 23 febbraio 2017 – Il pilota di Man Mark Cavendish (Team Dimension Data) ha vinto la tappa del Dhabi Tour Abu 2017 apertura, dal Madinat Zayed a Madinat Zayed (188 km), in uno sprint di gruppo e ha preso il comando nella classifica generale . Sul podio è stato premiato con il primo leader della corsa rosso Jersey, sponsorizzato da Al Maryah Island, e anche del leader punti maglia verde, sponsorizzato da nazione Towers.

Parlando secondi dopo l’arrivo di tappa, il vincitore ha detto: “Non posso criticare nessuno in squadra. Se avessi perso sarebbe stata solo colpa mia. E ‘stata la stessa finitura come l’anno scorso e mi è stato solo terzo poi, con noi dopo aver fatto alcuni errori. Siamo passati attraverso quello che abbiamo fatto male l’anno scorso, ha cercato di fare il contrario e questo è quello che è successo. ”

ITINERARIO
La seconda fase si svolgerà in gran parte nella città di Abu Dhabi. Dopo l’inizio della gara passa attraverso Reem Island, poi lungo la Corniche di Abu Dhabi per la prima volta prima di girare a sud su ampi viali rettilinei. Qui il percorso passa vicino alla Moschea Sheikh Zayed e raggiunge Shakhbout città – sede del primo intermedio Sprint, con alcune rotonde sul percorso – prima di guidare attraverso Al Shahama e Al Bahya – per il secondo intermedio Sprint – per poi tornare a Yas Island. La parte finale della tappa si corre sulla Sheikh Zayed bin autostrada verso la Corniche di Abu Dhabi e la linea del traguardo. L’intero percorso è su ampi viali con “occhi di gatto” riflettori stradali dividendo costantemente le corsie. Ultimo km
L’ultimi 5 km sono su strade sempre più grandi con grandi semi-curve che portano al rettilineo su asfalto.

Madinat Zayed, 23 February 2017 – The Manx rider Mark Cavendish (Team Dimension Data) won the opening stage of the 2017 Abu Dhabi Tour, from Madinat Zayed to Madinat Zayed (188km), in a bunch sprint and took the lead in the General Classification. On the podium he was rewarded with the first race leader’s Red Jersey, sponsored by Al Maryah Island, and also the points leader’s Green Jersey, sponsored by Nation Towers.

Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the winner said: “I can’t fault anyone in the team. If I’d lost it would have been only my fault. It was the same finish as last year and I was only third then, with us having made some mistakes. We went through what we did wrong last year, tried to do the complete opposite and that’s what happened.”

ROUTE
The second stage will take place mostly in the city of Abu Dhabi. After the start the race goes through Reem Island, then along the Abu Dhabi Corniche for the first time before turning south on wide, straight boulevards. Here the route passes close to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and reaches Shakhbout City – site of the first Intermediate Sprint, with several roundabouts on the course – before riding through Al Shahama and Al Bahya – for the second Intermediate Sprint – then returning to Yas Island. The final part of the stage is raced on the Sheikh bin Zayed Highway towards the Abu Dhabi Corniche and the finish line. The entire route is on wide boulevards with “cat’s eyes” road reflectors constantly dividing the lanes.

The final 5km are on increasingly large roads with large semi-curves leading to the straight finish on asphalt.
