Jebel Hafeet, 25 febbraio 2017 – Il pilota portoghese Rui Alberto Faria da Costa (UAE Abu Dhabi) ha vinto Fase 3 del Tour 2017 di Abu Dhabi, la tappa regina 186 km della corsa, da Al Ain a Jebel Hafeet, assumendo così un ruolo guida nel il complesso classifica generale. Sul podio è stato premiato con il leader della corsa rosso Jersey, sponsorizzato da Al Maryah Island.

Parlando secondi dopo l’arrivo di tappa, il vincitore e nuovo Red Jersey ha detto:. “Ho iniziato la salita finale molto indietro e ho dovuto mettere un sacco di sforzi per raggiungere la testa al gruppo Quando sono arrivato ho capito che le mie gambe erano buone e ho cercato di sorprendere gli altri con un attacco da una lunga via d’uscita. Questa è stata la tattica giusta. ero ancora patendo lo sforzo iniziale così mi salvai con Zakarin alla fine di recuperare per lo sprint finale. per noi è stato molto importante avere un grande risultato qui. non posso dire che sono stato sotto pressione ma psicologicamente ho saputo che abbiamo dovuto svolgere al meglio. abbiamo vinto e non ci potrebbe essere un risultato migliore. siamo estremamente felici per questa vittoria qui ad Abu Dhabi, con un nuovo sponsor e una nuova maglia. sono molto contento di questa vittoria che amplificherà il mio morale per il resto della stagione “.

La fase finale è interamente su Yas Island. Ci sono 26 giri del circuito di Yas Marina, ciascuno di 5,5 chilometri con tre intermedi sprint come noi conto alla rovescia per la finale. Il primo intermedio Sprint è al giro 11 con 15 giri dalla fine, il secondo a 10 giri dalla fine e l’ultimo intermedio Sprint viene fornito con solo cinque giri dalla fine.
Nel 2015, durante la fase Yas Island, per la prima volta in assoluto nella gara su strada professionale maschile, in diretta a bordo macchina fotografica della bici filmato è stato reso disponibile e utilizzato per la copertura corsa diretta televisiva. Ultimo km

Jebel Hafeet, 25 February 2017 – The Portuguese rider Rui Alberto Faria da Costa (UAE Abu Dhabi) won Stage 3 of the 2017 Abu Dhabi Tour, the 186km queen stage of the race, from Al Ain to Jebel Hafeet, thereby taking the lead in the overall General Classification. On the podium he was rewarded with the race leader’s Red Jersey, sponsored by Al Maryah Island.

Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the winner and new Red Jersey said: “I started the final climb a long way back and I had to put a lot of effort in to reach the front of the peloton. When I got there I realised that my legs were good and I tried to surprise the others with an attack from a long way out. That was the right tactic. I was still suffering from the initial effort so I saved myself with Zakarin at the end to recuperate for the final sprint. For us it was very important to have a great result here. I can’t say I was under pressure but psychologically I knew we had to perform at our best. We won and there couldn’t be a better result. We are extremely happy for this victory here in Abu Dhabi, with a new sponsor and a brand new jersey. I’m very happy with this victory that will boost my morale for the remainder of the season”.
